TikTok changed the column header from 'Referral Fee' to 'Platform Commission' in a settlement update and my import template broke silently. The file looked fine when I opened it in Excel but the validator immediately flagged the missing expected column. Re-exporting from Seller Center with the current format fixed it in minutes instead of the hours I would have spent debugging QuickBooks rejections.
One client's settlement file had shipping fee adjustments and affiliate commissions in the same Net Settlement column as regular order payouts, but with no Transaction Type label on 19 rows. The validator flagged every row missing a transaction type so I could categorize them correctly before importing. Otherwise those amounts would have been lumped into sales revenue instead of split across the right expense accounts.
