How to Export Bank Export from QuickBooks Online (2026 Guide)

Follow these steps to export your QuickBooks Online bank export as a CSV file. Once exported, you can use any of our converter tools to transform the data for your target system.

Export Steps

1

Log in to QuickBooks Online

Open your browser and navigate to qbo.intuit.com. Sign in with your Intuit credentials. You need at least Banking view and Reports permissions to access bank transaction data and export it.

2

Navigate to the Banking page

From the left-hand navigation menu, click on Banking (or Transactions then Bank Transactions in newer layouts). This shows your connected bank and credit card accounts with their recent transactions. Select the specific bank account you want to export by clicking on its tab at the top.

3

Use the Transaction List by Date report (recommended)

For a comprehensive export, go to Reports from the left menu and search for Transaction List by Date. This report includes all transactions across your accounts with full details like date, type, reference number, payee, memo, and amounts. It provides more detail than the Banking page export.

Tip: You can filter the report to a single bank account by clicking Customize, going to the Filter section, and selecting the specific account under the Account filter.
4

Set the date range and filters

At the top of the report, set the date range that covers the period you want to export. You can use preset options like This Month, Last Quarter, or This Fiscal Year, or enter custom dates. If you only need certain transaction types, use the Customize button to add a Transaction Type filter.

5

Customize the columns (optional)

Click Customize and go to the Rows/Columns section to add or remove columns. For banking exports, consider including date, transaction type, reference number, name (payee), memo, account, split (category), payment amount, deposit amount, and running balance.

6

Export to Excel

Click the Export icon in the top-right corner of the report and select Export to Excel. The file downloads as an Excel workbook to your default downloads folder. This contains all the transaction data matching your date range and filters.

7

Alternative: Export directly from Banking page

On the Banking page, select the bank account tab, then look for an Export link or download icon. Depending on your QuickBooks version, you may be able to download transactions for a selected date range directly. However, this method may include fewer fields than the report-based export.

8

Convert to CSV and review

Open the downloaded Excel file and save it as CSV format. Review the data to ensure all transactions are present and amounts are correct. Verify that deposits show as positive values and payments or withdrawals show separately or as negative values, depending on the column layout. The file is now ready for our converter tool.

Warning: Bank transaction exports may include pending or uncleared transactions depending on your filters. Verify the reconciliation status column if you only want cleared transactions.
