Why Convert QBO Files to IIF?

What is a .qbo File?

A .qbo file is QuickBooks' version of the OFX bank download format. Many banks offer "Web Connect" downloads as .qbo files specifically for QuickBooks users. **Important:** .qbo files are NOT the same as QuickBooks Online (also called QBO). This tool converts .qbo FILE downloads to IIF format for QuickBooks Desktop.

When to Use This Tool

While QuickBooks Desktop can import .qbo files directly via Web Connect, sometimes you need more control: - Direct Web Connect is unavailable or broken - You need to edit transactions before import - You're importing historical data - You want to choose specific accounts for transactions This tool gives you that control by converting to IIF format.

Common IIF File Import Errors

Issues you might encounter when importing OFX/QFX/QBO Bank Transactions data to IIF File - and how we solve them

Account Not Found

QuickBooks can't find the specified account name

Account 'Bank Account' not in Chart of Accounts
Create the account first or use exact name

Verify account names match your Chart of Accounts exactly

Edit account names in the tool options before converting

Transaction Doesn't Balance

IIF requires AMOUNT sum to equal zero per transaction

TRNS: 100, SPL: -90 (doesn't balance)
TRNS: 100, SPL: -100 (balances to zero)

We ensure each transaction balances correctly

All amounts are validated before export
